1-800-FLOWERS.COM, Inc. today announced it has joined the national Time To Vote movement to help drive voter engagement and turnout in the upcoming general election. This nonpartisan effort is led by CEOs of over 1000 companies who want to contribute to the culture shift needed to increase voter participation in our country's elections.
Voter turnout in the U.S. is among the lowest in the developed world. One of the most common reasons people give for not voting is that they are too busy with the demands of life and work. The Time To Vote coalition, representing more than six million workers in the U.S., is addressing this challenge by giving employees the time and the tools they need to exercise their right to vote.
Team members across the company’s family of brands are being encouraged to vote and will have paid time off to cast their ballot – either on November 3, or before, where early voting is available. The company is helping its employees make a voting plan, by sharing resources and information about early voting, vote-by-mail options, where to find local polling information, and more.
“Championing the movement to increase voter participation in our country speaks to our company’s vision to inspire more human expression, connection and celebration,” says Chris McCann, CEO, 1-800-FLOWERS.COM, Inc. “I encourage each of our employees to express their individual views at the polls, connect with their local community by participating in the voting process, and fully celebrate our cherished democratic right to vote.”
